Merlin, Grad Prix Partner

Merlin is a 15 year old Russian Warmblood who had some significant maintenance issues.  In order to train at the level of intensity necessary to get to the Grand Prix, Dr. Kuebelbeck and the team at Surgi-Care had to understand my needs.  In a perfect world, you never need to hurry, meet a deadline or go before you are ready.  That is not where I live!   [Read Full Story]

Tampa Bay, Therapy Horse at Quantum Leap Farm

Quantum Leap Farm is a nonprofit comprehensive equine therapies center providing therapeutic horseback riding and other rehabilitative programs for kids and adults living with short or long-term physical, emotional and cognitive injury or disability.  We help people build strength, achieve goals, and overcome challenges by engaging them with horses. Recently one of our therapy horses, Tampa Bay, mysteriously injured himself overnight in his stall. He greeted us in the morning with a 3 to 4 inch long abrasion and an adjacent laceration on his forehead, just medial to his right eye.   [Read Full Story]

Prima

HI!

This is Wendy Martucci.   I brought in my Art Deco Paint, Prima to you last September.  She had 5 fractures in her coffin bone.  Do you remember her?  Well, I wanted to let you know how she is doing!  When we left the doctor gave us only a 30% chance of survival.  She has behaved herself beautifully!  She has had no problems with her other legs.  The cast is off and just yesterday the doctor gave her the thumbs up to go outside and walk around a little!  She made it!  I want to thank you all so much for all your support and help.  If it weren’t for you, I would have had to put her down, but I knew she was a fighter and with your help she would make it. Again, thank you soooo much! You saved a horse with 5 fractures! Way to go!!!!!!! Please let everyone know she is doing great!

Isabell the Rescue Horse

Ohana Rescue took in a horse on Jan 21, 2010 in near death condition. This horse had been attached by a viscous dog, and had been starved. The horse barely had the energy to stand.  The horse had a large cancerous tumor under her one eye.

Survey Stake in Rio's Hoof

While trail riding at dusk, my precious Rio was impaled with the remnants of a survey stake. As far as we could tell he must have held it down with his front foot and as his hind was coming up the stake went into the top of his coronet band, straight down...

Duchess, Forever Missed

It is a sad day in the Middleton family.  Duchess our Spotted Appaloosa was diagnosed with cancer three weeks ago.  They operated to remove what they could.  After three weeks of shots and changing bandages the tumors are back and I had to make a difficult and painful decision to have her put down.  We’ve scheduled it for next week.  This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve had to make in my life.

Lil Shota Firewater

This is my great mare, Lil Shota Firewater (Little Bit) winning a WPRA Barrel Race in Arcadia, FL on July 4, 2009.  A few weeks prior to this event, Little Bit had been running slightly off. Little Bit isn't just my horse or a tool to win, she's my other half - my partner and whenever she's not herself, I immediately call Dr. Kuebelbeck. I trust her opinion, value her insight, and know that she has my mare's best interest at heart. We watched her videos, Dr. Kuebelbeck evaluated her, found the problem, and chose a plan of action. When Dr. Kuebelbeck gives me instructions..I followed them to the letter..and this is the result! She's won a check every time she's run through the gate since that day. Winners will tell you that it takes a team to get them to the top and keep them there. Knowing that I have Dr. Kuebelbeck, Dr. Richter, and the rest of Surgi-Care on my team providing my horses with the most complete care possible gives me all the confidence I need!

Romeo

I just want to thank you all so much for all you do, have done, and will do. Myself and my horse, Romeo, got the chance to meet some of you last year in July. Romeo had a terrible accident that injured his scapula/shoulder area. I was very happy to be referred to Surgi-Care by the doctors at Van Rockel's office.  I never thought something like this injury could have been fixed. But, the work done by the doctors was incredible. I was able to watch the whole surgery. It was fascinating. When they were done, when he actually walked away to be put in his stall, I knew that they performed a miracle. I have included some pics to show the amazing results.

Thank you so much all the doctors and nurses at Surgi-Care for all you do!!!!!!!

Archie "Big Boy"

Archie, my 17.2 hd Warmblood, is all about food.   On a beautiful Saturday morning at feed time, he got frustrated and kicked his stall wall.  Unfortunately the wall had bars about 4 feet up, and he ended up getting his leg stuck in the bars.

Laredo

Dear Dr. Richter,

I had promised I would send this article to all of you. It appeared in our monthly newsletter for the horse club I belong to. I hope you remember my little white Paso, Laredo that you all took such excellent care of. Thank you all and may God bless you in all the work you do.

Warmest regards,
