Rosemary Pitt
Hospital Manager
Joined Surgi-Care in October of 1995.
Rosemary is one of the original staff members of
Surgi-Care. She makes her home with Bill, her husband of 40+ years. They have three daughters who have given them 8 grandchildren. Rosemary owns a Tennessee Walker, Sam, and two dogs, Beans
and Tater. Rosemary and Bill have a mountain retreat in Georgia where

April Ellwood
Office Administrator
Joined Surgi-Care in March of 2006.
During her tenure at Surgi-Care, April has held the positions of Technician, Anesthesia Technician and Equipment Manager; until September, 2011 when she accepted a promotion to Office Manager. April enjoys many hobbies such as horseback
riding, boating, relaxing on Florida beaches and shopping. April and her husband Archie own
numerous dogs, cats, horses, goats and a cow. April and Archie recently became the very proud parents of a beautiful baby boy.

Suzanne Holcomb
Administrative Assistant
Joined Surgi-Care in January of 2012.
Suzanne graduated from the University of Florida in 2000 with a degree in Animal Sciences. After attaining her degree, she opened a dairy farm and ice cream business and operated it until re-locating back to Florida. Suzanne's interest in horses and cattle go back many years and she continues to stay pursue that interest through horseback riding and showing dairy cattle at local and national shows. Suzanne makes her home with her husband Chris and their three children Austin, Rebecca and Colby as well as a quarter horse mare and multiple diary heifers and cows. In whatever spare time remains, Suzanne enjoys going to the beach.

Loretta North
Technician/Assistant
Joined Surgi-Care in July of 2007.
Loretta grew up riding and caring for horses in Michigan and showed for years on the hunter/jumper circuit. In 2005, she graduated from Bel-Rae Institute in Denver, CO as a Certified Veterinary Technician. Loretta worked for, and did an internship, at Littleton Large Animal Hospital in Littleton, CO before relocating to Florida. She is experienced in ICU care, emergencies, radiology and anesthesia. Loretta lives in Lithia with her husband, son, three dogs and two thoroughbreds.

Cheri Maldonado
Technician/Assistant
Joined Surgi-Care in June of 2008.
Cheri relocated to Florida from Ohio in 2004. She is the mother of two
beautiful daughters, Amanda and Erika. Her and her family own many
rescue animals with the pride and joys being their two horses and a
pony. Cheri works at Surgi-Care part time and has a full time career
working with Physically Impaired children. She is currently in school to
become a special needs teacher and in her spare time she enjoys
spending time with her family and animals.

Trinity Shepherd
Technician/Assistant
Joined Surgi-Care in February of 2010.
Trinity has been involved with horses for as long as she can remember. Outside of Surgi-Care, she spends much of her time outdoors with her quarter horse Bubba working cows or enjoying a trail ride. Besides Bubba, Trinity owns two dogs, Peanut and Bo-C-Fus. Trinity will be continuing her education in the fall of 2011 when she begins classes at Hillsborough Community College with the goal of becoming a Game Warden.

Christie Davis
Technician/Assistant
Joined Surgi-Care in November of 2010.
Christie earned an Associate’s degree in veterinary
technology from Sanford-Brown College in 2010. She has chosen to specialize in equine care and is continuing her equine education by training to be a farrier. When not caring for horses, she enjoys sunsets, traveling, Italian
food, and cuddling with her two dog’s, Gizzmo and Scooter, and her cat Mr. Speigel. Christie is
very close to her parents and was recently engaged to her best friend Nathan.

Ashley Clayton
Technician/Assistant
Joined Surgi-Care in June of 2011.
Ashley is a native Floridian and grew up in Sarasota. She became a registered nurse in June
of 2010 at the State College of Florida.
Ashley is currently attending the University of South Florida and is
working towards a bachelor’s degree in Animal Biology. Upon completing her degree, she plans to continue her
veterinary education and hopes to attend the veterinary school at the
University of Florida. In addition
to her studies, Ashley is a member of the Pre-Vet Society at USF and is the
treasurer of the USF equestrian team.
Ashley began riding horses when she was 4 years old. She, along with her horses Flash and Smokey,
have shown with the American Paint Association and the National Barrel Horse
Association. Together they have
won numerous awards and buckles, and a saddle. In addition to Flash and Smokey, Ashley owns another horse
Hank; a dog, Libby and a cat, Bud.

Katherine Abel

Joined Surgi-Care in January 2012.
Katherine, 'Kat,' is a native Floridian. From childhood, she was interested in horses and took her first riding lessons at Girl Scout Camp. She hung around the camp for years, eventually working as a horseback riding instructor. Later, as a working student for an Olympian event rider, she gained extensive experience in caring for FEI horses. Kat has ridden eventers in the past, dressage for the last few years, and now wants to try endurance. She is owned by two horses: Nacho and Bonnie. She shares her house with three dogs, a cat, and a small collection of tarantulas.
