K. Leann Kuebelbeck, DVM, DACVS
Surgeon, Owner
Dr. Kuebelbeck, Board Certified Surgeon, received her veterinary
degree from Kansas State University and completed her internship and
surgical residency at Peterson and Smith Equine Hospital in Ocala,
Florida. She then came to Brandon, Florida to co-found Surgi-Care
Center for Horses n 1995. She became sole-owner of Surgi-Care Center
for Horses in March 2009. Dr. Kuebelbeck's professional interests include both orthopedic and soft tissue surgery.
Dr. Kuebelbeck was the 2009 President of the Florida Association of Equine Practitioners (FAEP) and serves on the Resident Credentialing
Committee for the American College of Veterinary Surgeons (ACVS). Dr. Kuebelbeck is also serving a three year term on the North American Veterinary Conference's (NAVC) Board of Directors. The NAVC promotes intensive continuing education for veterinarians. In her spare time Dr. Kuebelbeck enjoys spending time with her family
and participating in outdoor sports. She has completed two Ironman
triathlons (Louisville and Kona) and achieved a personal best
in the Ironman 70.3 in Lawrence, Kansas in 2010.

Ruth-Anne Richter, BSc (Hon), DVM, MS
Surgeon
Dr.
Richter received her veterinary degree from the Atlantic Veterinary College on
Prince Edward Island, Canada in 1995 after finishing a Bachelor of Science
(Hon) degree. Dr. Richter did an equine internship at Mississippi State
University, and following a year in private practice began a surgical residency
at the University of Illinois. She completed her surgical residency and
concurrent Master of Science degree in 2000. Since then, Dr. Richter has worked
as a staff surgeon at Reid and Associates in West Palm Beach, the Equine
Specialty Hospital in Ohio and East End Equine in Long Island, New York. Dr.
Richter joined Surgi-Care Center for Horses in 2005 as a staff surgeon. Prior
to attending veterinary school, Dr. Richter was farm manager for Christilot Hanson-Boylen,
a member of Canada’s Dressage Team.
Dr.
Richter has a strong interest in equine sports medicine, diagnostic imaging, lameness
and surgery. She also has a particular interest in regenerative medicine
techniques (stem cells, platelet-rich plasma and interleukin-1 receptor
antagonist protein), and is certified by Vet-Stem®.

Kendra McLeod, DVM, CVA
Ambulatory Clinician
Dr. Kendra McLeod received
her veterinary degree from the University of Prince Edward Island, Atlantic
Veterinary College in 2004 after finishing a Bachelor of Science degree from
the University of Florida in 2000. She has furthered her training by completing
the Equine Acupuncture certification at the Chi Institute of Chinese Veterinary
Medicine in 2009. Dr. McLeod spent six years in Wilmington, NC as an associate
for Pineview Veterinary Hospital and started her own part-time Holistic
Medicine practice. She has a strong interest in equine reproduction, dentistry
and acupuncture. Dr. McLeod enjoys teaching and is a courtesy assistant
professor in Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the University of Florida
College of Veterinary Medicine and an adjunct faculty member for the San Juan
College, Farmington, New Mexico, Veterinary Technology Distance Learning
Program. Dr. McLeod is excited to be back in Florida, where she grew up
horseback riding and competing in the western disciplines. She enjoys the coast
where she spends time boating, scuba diving, kayaking and has recently started
competing in triathlons.

Jennifer Brown, DVM, DACVS
Surgeon
After earning a doctor of veterinary medicine from Washington State University in 1999, she conducted an internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, in 2000 and completed a surgery residency at Michigan State University in 2003. Dr. Brown was on the faculty at Virginia Tech's Marion DuPont Scott Equine Medical Center from 2003 to 2010. After moving to Tampa, FL in 2010 she joined Surgi-Care as a part-time emergency clinician and surgeon. Dr. Brown is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Brown has performed research on the pharmacokinetics of lidocaine CRI, and colic and upper airway surgeries. Since 2005, Dr. Brown has participated in many areas of disaster response including the National Disaster Medical System's National Veterinary Response Team, American Veterinary Medical Association's VMAT teams, and is the team veterinarian and K-9 Search Specialist with FEMA FLTF-2 Urban Search and Rescue. She also serves on AVMA's Committee on Disaster and Emergency Issues representing equine medicine. Dr. Brown is a member of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, American Association of Equine Practitioners, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
